The SPCA Amanzimtoti recently hosted a morning filled with art, flowers and cooking in an effort to raise awareness and funds for the abandoned animals at the shelter.
"During the December period the SPCA is inundated with lost animals. Some animals escape the properties of their owners, and others are left on their own while owners go away for the holidays. However sad, this is the reality of life for many animals in our community, and if we all work together we can make Amanzimtoti a pet friendly place where all domestic animals are happy and safe within the property walls"9, said SPCA volunteer, Jacqueline Smith.
Along with group of local artists and florists, Hirsch's Umhlanga PRO, Warren Pearce and Nadira Singh from AEG delighted the crowd with a live cooking demonstration using an electric pressure cooker to make a true Durban Favourite, Lamb Curry. This was a hit with the audience members and proved a welcome treat on the cloudy morning.
