BEING TRUE TO YOURSELF -
Margaret Hirsch, award winning business woman and COE of the Hirsch Group, was invited to address the ladies from WIL – Women in Leadership at Leriba Lodge and Spa in Centurion. The theme for the talk was “being true to myself”. Kogie Moodley-Pretorius and Carina Nel, Fashion Stylist opened the meeting after which Hannalie Barao, Director of Experttech International & Leadership Practice welcomed all the ladies and did a short talk on the Women in Leadership.
Margaret started off by telling everyone “We all have doubts about ourselves. This starts when we are children, it is carried forward until we are teenagers and then through to adulthood. We should put armour around ourselves” Margaret explained. “Be specific about what you want and always write down your goals. Vision boards are very powerful and help you to focus on specific things. Don’t just go all out to make money, work towards achieving your goals. Have passion for what you do and you will be successful” said Margaret.
Margaret Hirsch regularly visits school girls to tell them about the Girls With Dignity project, initiated by Sue Barnes in KZN. Many South Africans have no idea that there is a large percentage of the school going population that only attend school for three weeks out of every month. Millions of under privileged young girls in the country do not attend school for a week every month because they have their periods and cannot afford the necessary sanitary protection to cope. Margaret is determined to help these girls. Travelling to many rural areas she does talks and tell these girls that in life they will always have a choice, they can choose to stay at home or choose to go to school and eventually be successful in life . Margaret hands out panty packs to the girls, each pack contains 1 panty and 3 sanitary pads. “The average school attendance has now increased from 40% to 80%, better attendance, better self esteem” Margaret said.
She ended this inspirational talk by saying South Africa is a fantastic country with so many opportunities. “We need to make the best of it, women are very powerful but cannot empower others if they don’t empower themselves”
All the ladies received lovely goodie bags, vouchers from Elize Mare Photography, the Wellness & Energy Network, gifts from Honey, hampers from Miglio Jewellery and Annique, and 4 cooks books with compliments from Margaret Hirsch was done with a lucky draw.
