Winter months see a decrease in the purchase of air conditioning units, but this is not always the case, especially in Durban. With this, Hirsch Air aim to educate the public before they purchase their air con, to ensure the purchase satisfies the needs of the customer, and leaves them happy.
Air con units are not only feasible within the Summer months, because, they have a heating facility which allows the unit to be used within the Winter months, or on colder days. This makes it financially viable for you, as you do not need to purchase a heater as well as a fan.
Hirsch Air Manager, Akbar Hussan, advises customers to know the square meterage of their room before looking for an air con, as different size rooms call for different size units. If your bedroom has an en-suite, include this in your measurements, as sometimes you leave the door open, and will want the cool air flowing throughout the bedroom into the bathroom.
When deciding where you will place your air con, ensure it is not blowing directly onto you, take into account how many windows you have, and where they are situated, as well as ensuring there is no copper piping in the wall where your aircon will be installed, to ensure no drilling occurs and damages these pipes.
“Ensure your valuables are locked away, so there is no risk of theft” advises Akbar. “And it is also important to remember, with the new gas, R410, used in the air conditioners, you need at least 3m copper piping to ensure you hear no noises in your unit”.
