Recently Hirsch’s Springfield hosted a semi-final for the Hirsch and Defy Junior Super chef competition , aimed at kids between the ages of 8 and 13 with a passion for cooking. The competition is also co sponsored by Zwilling, Snappy Chef and Green Pan.
Ten contestants battled it out for the top spot – with much encouragement from friends and families, the room was filled with excitement and nerves by the huge crowd we had.
The children were given a mystery box with a variety of ingredients – and an hour to produce and present a two course meal. They were judged by Joani Mitchell and Lisa Raleigh.
Lisa Raleigh said “I am proud of all of you, at your age I was not able to cook something so elaborate” and Joani Mitchell replied saying “I was on Masterchef, and we were given mystery boxes, I panicked!, but none of you panicked, you knew exactly what you wanted to cook, well done!”
