Kwa-Tuli PRIVATE GAME RESERVE Botswana
Kwa-Tuli lies in the heart of Northern Tuli block, part of the greater Limpopo-Shashe Transfrontier Park – a remote, private and unspoiled African reserve offering incredible wildlife and wilderness experiences.
Guests may set their own pace with game drives in open 4 X 4 vehicles, and guided walking safaris. The wildlife at Kwa-Tuli is fascinating. Kudu and Eland and all the plains game dot the valley while bushbuck and waterbuck feed on the island. Wildebeest, giraffe and zebra visit the many waterholes. Hides give guests the opportunity to observe and photograph animals close up in their natural environment without disturbance.
The area is renowned for the largest, single population of elephant on privately owned land in Africa. Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and all the major predators can be seen in this region.
The reserves southern boundary is the great Limpopo River. Hippo and Crocodiles concentrate in the deeper pools while leopard hunts the baboons on the forested islands.
Nocturnal animals such as Hyena, Porcupine, Aardvark, Civet, Genet and Bush baby can be observed on the night drives.
In addition to exploring the islands and majestic kopjes on foot, you can enjoy excellent birding. Pels Fishing Owl, Ground Hornbill, Double Banded Courser are some of the 360 species of birds to be seen.
Sundowners can be taken on numerous spots on top of granite kopjes only a short walk from the vehicles. What more spectacular than the sun setting over the African Landscape.
Historic and archeological sites abound, unchanged since the days of early explorers such as Selous, Kipling and Cecil John Rhodes.
The call of the Fish Eagle by day and Pets Fishing Owl at night sets the mood for this wild African experience

Island Camp
Reached by a hanging bridge on an island in the middle of the Limpopo River is an exclusive hideaway called “Island Campâ€.
Nestled under the thick canopy of the riverine forest, eternally shaded from the African sun lies four luxurious tents. The tents are large and roomy with an “Out of Africa†feel with colonial furniture and thick-featured duvets.
Each tent has its own beautiful bathroom with a Slipper bath and huge outdoor shower.
Private viewing decks allow guests to enjoy the fascinating secrets of the wildlife that visits the surrounding river.
The kitchen, dining room and lounge with a build-in fireplace are under thatch, with the Boma under open skies for dining under the stars.
One of “Island Camp†highlights is the wonderful sounds. In summer the roaring of the surrounding river and in winter the pre-dawn of bird songs starts of the morning. Accompanied by the haunting cries of the Fish Eagle, Baboons bark and screech and Hippo’s grunt. Elephants wonder past at night trumpeting and breaking branches with a rifle crack.
Finally get to sleep under the soothing “Pels Fishing†and “Scops Owls†calls
Koro Camp - Educational
Koro Camp is run by Wild at Tuli Safaris and is overseen by two unique women who share a spirit of adventure and undying passion for the magic of the African Wilderness and its wildlife. Dr Helena Fitchat and Mrs Judi Gounaris are both Trustees of one of the biggest Wildlife Rehabilitation Centres in South Africa and have now decided to relocate to the Tuli Block in Botswana to run a Conservation Project with volunteers and to offer a personalised safari experience to those who wish to ‘get away from it all’.
The aim is to ‘educate and fascinate’ visitors on why we need to get involved in conserving wilderness areas, and part of what they offer is short training courses on Wildlife Rehabilitation and Bird Identification for Beginners.
Wildlife sightings in the Tuli Block include the famous Tuli Elephants, all the plains game as well as leopard, lion and cheetah. You will not find anyone more knowledgeable than Helena who has spent over 30 years on and off in the wilderness. She is an expert tracker, she crossed the Kalahari desert on her own, she lived with the Bushmen for a year, she is a pilot, she is a biologist specialising in Animal Behaviour (for which she obtained her Phd) , and she single-handedly navigated her way through the vast Okavango Delta in a leaking boat and survived!
