Diwali, the Hindu New Year, was celebrated on Tuesday the 13th of November 2012 and as many of the staff are Hindu’s, The Hirsch’s Centurion staff joined in on the festivities. A brightly coloured Diwali display stand was put up in store and filled with candles and sweet meats for all the customers to try. The aroma of spicy incense filled the store and Hirsch’s Hindu staff members proudly wore their traditional attire to celebrate the occasion. . All the staff members lit sparklers to commemorate the festival of lights and when asked why this was done, Sash Gajadhar, assistant manager of Hirsch’s Centurion, explained “To me, Diwali is all about letting our inner light shine, that is why we light the sparklers. It is about a new beginning and letting go of the negatives of the past. It is such a special and meaningful celebration, it makes me strive to be the best person I can be”
Diwali is a significant celebration, and whether Diwali is within your religion or not, everybody could do with a negative-free fresh start, that should be enough reason to want to celebrate this “festival of light”
