On Tuesday night, 21st May, Fourways hosted the annual AGM with all the branches present from Johannesburg, Pretoria and surrounding areas. Each branch was required to sing or dance or both (if the talent was there) and the theme was ‘SHAKE’ – which can most definitely be interpreted any which way.
The branches began rehearsing months in advance, and the secrecy levels were exceptionally high. No one spoke of the AGM or even gave a practise training schedule, so I do believe it is appropriate to say that the guards were up and poker faces were on....LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!
The evening kicked off with delicious Indian Veggie biryani, Dahl, salad and cold drink which was made by Sarus and was enjoyed by absolutely everyone. After dinner, we were welcomed by Mrs Margaret Hirsch, who was MC for the evening, and the speaker were Norman Brassel and the guest speaker, John Broome. John is a motivational speaker and his topic was on the power of the mind and how it effects our everyday lives. He spoke about our conscious and unconscious processes of the brain and how many things we say, have a direct effect on the situations we find ourselves in – whether it being positive or negative.
It was a fantastic speech and the message of how powerful the mind is was realized by many of the staff and we have already started to see changes in a number of people who have applied this to their own lives.
AWARDS
Its during award ceremonies, that the best of the best are awarded for their efforts, and it is evident that Hirschs truly have absolutely phenomenal people which make up this fantastic organisation. Special Award Recognitions were given to Linda Lewendag and Deon Thomas,
Exceptional Achievements also went to Mrs Margaret Hirsch, Deon Gove and Dennis Canter for their fantastic achievements during examinations.
5-year awards and 10-year awards were also handed out
Last but not least, the top prestigious award went to Hirsch Fourways for Branch of the Year who was handed over to Keith Govender, branch manager of Fourways. An impressive glass trophy which was definitely celebrated by all, by clapping and many ‘woo-hoos’
A very big congratulations to all the winners – you truly deserve it.
We then moved onto the dancing and what a tough task for the judges. However, in the end, a phenomenal performance by BOKSBURG won them the best of the best at the AGM.
All in all, it was a wonderful evening and was definitely enjoyed by everyone. A big thank you to all management and staff who put in so much effort in making this a big success.
