Hirsch’s Springfield Park underwent a massive renovation to their state of the art SMEG stand recently, and to celebrate they held a Bunny Chow Competition together with The Weekly Gazette.
Contestants from far and wide submitted their entries to Hirsch’s to be selected as one of the finalists to battle it out as the “Hirsch Springfield Park Bunny Chow Champion” for 2015. Three lucky ladies were chosen to compete, and prepared mouth watering and exciting bunny chows for the judges and customers of Hirsch Springfield Park. Three lucky ladies were chosen to compete, Trisha Pillay who prepared a Tikka Chicken and Prawn Bunny Chow, Aneesa Ismail prepared a Creamy Beans and Mutton Bunny Chow, and Sharika Goothan prepared a traditional Mutton Bunny Chow.
Joani Mitchell, a judge of the competition, commented, “I have SMEG at home so this competition is very close to my heart. I think we need to really put Bunny Chows on the map and Hirsch’s Springfield Park have really done something amazing here. This competition has been a lot of fun and not easy to judge at all, due to the creativity and amazing tastes that each contestant have prepared.” Bianca Hauser, Hirsch Springfield Park’s Public Relations and Marketing Officer added, “We have seen a variety of cooking skills and methods and this competition has been a lot of fun. We look forward to making this an annual event and aim for bigger and better.”
Of all the great bunny chows prepared, there could only be one winner. Sharika [] walked away with the Grand Prize of a SMEG Stove, to the value of R20 000 after preparing a delicious and spicy Mutton Bunny! “Well done to Sharika and to all the contestants. Choosing a winner was not easy as everyone prepared amazing dishes, with creativity and innovation and the taste was just amazing!” Commented Hirsch Springfield Park’s Branch Manager, Elvis Govender.
