We all want to make more money with our online businesses. Here are a list of marketing mistakes to avoid when launching a new campaign.
Marketing Mistake #1
Promoting Every Product, in your niche, Without Using or Reviewing It Yourself
Problems:
Promoting inferior products hurts your reputation
If you don’t know what your promoting, How can you promote it well?
Solutions:
Buy or get a review copy of the product you are thinking about promoting
Do research on the products and their creators, to see what kind of reputation they have
Check the search engines for reviews of the product
Marketing Mistake #2
Not Writing Your Own Promotional Copy
Problem:
Using the email copy provided by the product creator shows lack of originality and sincerity
Solution:
Write your own copy
Writing you own copy might be a little extra work, but it is worth it. You want to stand out. Many people will be selling the same product you are. They need a reason to buy from you. So give it to them!
Marketing Mistake #3
Not Providing Any Extra Value
Problem:
No one likes to be sold everyday
Solution:
Always be thinking about how you can add more value to your subscribers
Mix valuable content with promo’s
How do you feel when you receive email after email from people trying to sell you something, without ever offering value. I know what I do, I unsubscribe and I’m sure you would do the same thing
Marketing Mistake #4
Hard Selling Instead of Pre-Selling
Problem:
Your job as an affiliate is not to “sell†It is to pre-sell
Solution:
Leave the selling to the merchant
Just give people a preview of the product/service, Whether it is a video of you using the product or just a written overview
Affiliate Marketing is not about selling products. It is rather, about helping people find the information they need and making a commission for the referral. So, leave the selling to the merchant and just help people find what they are looking for.
Marketing Mistake #5
Lack of Branding
Problem:
Without Personal Branding, how can you stand out from the crowd?
Solution:
Brand yourself, your name
Build a relationship with your list
Gain their trust by being honest about who you are and why you want to help them
Let me ask you this question. Would you give someone you’ve never met and know nothing about, you’re hard earned money? Or, would you rather give you’re money to someone who you might not have met in person, but you have learned things about this person by reading their emails, personal stuff. The latter, I’m sure.
What I’m trying to get across is, don’t be afraid to share your personal life with your list. Getting personal shows people that you are a normal human being, just like them, and that you have been through some of the same struggles that they have in life. This, in turn, creates a trust between you and them.
Marketing Mistake #6
Not Offering A Complementary Bonus
Problem:
People can find the products you promote in a number of places
Solution:
Give them a reason to buy from you!
Bonuses will increase conversions.
Let them know what the product they are about to buy, is missing, and give them a bonus that will complement the product in some way, either find something that does complement the product or create it yourself.
Marketing Mistake #7
Not Doing Product Walk-Through Video’s
Problem:
People need to see what they are buying and how it will help them
Solution:
Make a video about the product
Show the best parts of the product, but not all of it, leave them wanting more
This adds value and helps people make a more informed decision
Helping people make a more informed decision is really the goal of all affiliates, and of course to make money in the process. But treat your Affiliate Marketing business, not as a business, but as an informational tool to help people find what they are looking for. Do this, and you will become a successful internet marketer. Make sure that you do not make these 7 Marketing Mistakes and concentrate on helping people make informed decisions.
