In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Mr. Anthony Badenhorst, a homeless person in Cape Town CBD, was attacked with a knife by two suspects who fled with his crutches. Having had a hip replacement, back operation, and multiple sclerosis, Mr. Badenhorst (39) was completely dependent on his crutches to move around and earn a living handing out flyers during the day with his best friend Sunna Moyo. Ms Kaydeen Fortuin (25), employee at Hirsch’s new branch in Milnerton, heard about the incident on Radio Tygervalley and immediately decided to jump into action and help Anthony relieve his dilemma. Kaydeen contacted Anthony on his cell phone, arranged for a meeting at Green Market Square, and donated crutches to him. Overwhelmed with gratitude towards Kaydeen, Anthony shared some touching and heart moving stories about his daughter and his current living situation sleeping on the streets of Cape Town CBD. Kaydeen and Hirsch’s felt privileged and honoured to have been able to help Anthony during these troubling times.
