Recently Hirsch’s PRO Sarah Brauns met up with ER24 Paramedics at Ithemba place of Hope to do a demo and display with the children. The idea behind allowing the children to experience the ambulance in a safe environment was to teach the children that an ambulance is there to help them said Sarah Brauns, Hillcrest PRO. The children were taught how to remember an emergency number and how to remember their home address should they ever need to get help. The morning was thoroughly enjoyed by all the children and adults alike been shown the very basics on how to save a life. They all got to put on gloves and help an injured person onto a back board. They were also shown how to put a patient into the recovery position. After the demonstration the children were assisted into the ambulance by Colin Job (ER24 Paramedic) and allowed to have a look inside. They were then all taken in separate groups for a slow ambulance drive around the school field with the lights and sirens. This was the cause of great excitement - Mission accomplished, no more fears or worries about an Ambulance. What a fantastic day was had by all said Sarah Brauns. A huge thank you to ER24 for taking the time to assist in a great adventure.
