On Friday Hirsch’s Milnerton took hands with Trees for Schools during arbour week and planted 20 trees at Tygerhof Primary school. This was done as part of a three phase project in aid of the school who is running a feeding scheme and are in need of shade during the warm winter months. Said Suzanne Nortje from Trees for Schools “The aim is to educate children on how to plant and care for trees. By phase three of this project we would have planted 100 trees, and a vegetable garden to help the school with their feeding scheme”. The vegetable garden is set up through using old tyres in which the seedlings can be planted. Said Hirsch’s PRO Nardo van Eck “The schools feeding scheme currently helps feed 300 children, and we aim to have 100 tyres in place, and would be able to feed four kids per tyre”. Hirsch’s will be raising funds in the following months to assist with the project, and to help renovate the grade R class rooms. Any help from the public would be greatly appreciated.
