Why Fumigate?
The great advantage of commodity fumigation over other pest control methods is that all target pests are killed within the fumigated space, regardless of their location. The moleculesdiffuse freely through the air and infiltrate the smallest spaces.
The Disadvantage of fumigation is the lack of residual activity to protect the fumigated spaces from subsequent infestation
When to Fumigate
Commodity fumigation is the treatment of choice when the target pest infestation cannot be fully accessed or delineated. When treated the area has to be quarantined.
Types of Fumigants
The Three primary gases used for commodity fumigation are
1) Methyl bromide
is a liquefied gas which is colourless and odureless.Extremely toxic to mammals, including humans. Contained in pressurised cylinders
2) Sulfuryl Fluoride
is a liquid gas which is colourless and odureless. Extremely toxic to mammals, including humans. Contained in pressurised cylinders.
3)Phosphine
contains Aluminium phosphide or magnesium phosphide pellets or tablets. They generate phosphine gas when exposed to moisture in the air. The gas has a slight "fish and garlic"smell The original matter breaks down into powderey grey residue which resembles cigarette ash.
Symptoms of Inhalation include nausea, vomiting, headache,...and difficulty breathing.
Please Note The gases are extremely dangerouse. All our chemicals are handled by qualified, trained and expierenced pest control operators.
